Lyric and Rhyme

Sometimes, my meditation writing comes out in the form of poetry or spoken word.  Here are two that focus on the value of women.  They are inspired by clients, friends, muses.

In Your Mirror

There is a beautiful woman in your mirror.

Who is that?  Who is she?
So divinely inspired and thoughtfully made
Her shoulders, her lips, her hips, her heart
Made from scratch, one-of-a-kind, never to be repeated
Ever
In another human being.

There is an angel, a warm-heart, a smiling giggling toddler
Who aged like wine over time
And grace
Has made her face exceptional
Like youth
And wisdom combined.

She can melt the icy, heal the hurting, soothe the aching and love
The unlovable.
Who is that woman and how did she get there?
Standing in your mirror, looking back at you
Without fear.

She’s someone I’d like to call friend.
Will you?

Starling, Darling

You are a darling, girl
A Starling whirl-ing around the sky through haze to the sun.
Swiftly flying, gliding, dipping and diving
with drama and flair that slices the air and
Keeps you aloft whatever weather may come.

Eyes wide deep and dark
With flecks of light like sparks
That focus the sharp edges of life
Into tales that beguile
Revealing nods and smiles
Where before we saw none.

Sweet birds, can they know the depth of delight they bring?
When they are purely themselves,
When they fly, when they sing.
